What is taught at The Film School?

We teach the methods of independent filmmaking, the primary elements of cinema, screenplay structure, and how to approach it. This is a school to practice creating “simple cinema” as if it were a handcrafted piece of art. (Unconventional learning for handmade cinema)

I know nothing about cinema. Can I learn it at The Film School?

Yes, you can. Learn the basics systematically. Practice them. Read a lot of books. Watch films by the world’s best directors. Believe deeply that you can make a film. That’s all it takes.

Where should I choose the story for an independent film?

Take it from your own life.

Which camera should I use?

No one asks a writer, “Which pen did you use to write this story?” The tool is never the priority; the person behind the tool is what matters. If you have a good smartphone, shoot with that.

People say cinema follows a “formula.” Does that apply to independent films?

No. A formula is about making something that pleases everyone. Make the film the way you like it; eventually, everyone will like it.

How will I know if I am making “proper” cinema?

Just start filming. The process itself will teach you.
